i have had requests to add an article about beards and jehovah's witnesses.
it is interesting that there is virtually no statement that says a witness cannot have a beard, yet universally they do not have beards.
i have scoured quotes from all the threads on jwn, all references to beard on the cd watchtower library, and copies of elders letters that i have.
I was dragged to the noticeboard where the leaflet on 'correct attire when visiting bethel' was posted.
The PO said "do you see any of those brothers with a beard - NO"
I said "no, I don't see any moustaches either, does that mean they're banned as well?"

i personally recorded a district overseer's statement he made in a talk, regarding calling someone a "despicable fool".

he basically equated that term with calling someone an apostate!!!

ok i'm chatting on facebook with a guy who's studying with jws, who isn't yet an unbaptised publisher because he can't kick the cancer sticks.
now i don't believe in the bible anymore, but i say i do to get a bit of common ground with this guy.
it's a common attitude among jws.
Don't give up , that sounded to me like AT LEAST you've sown some seeds, if not actually gotten through a little. . . .
At the very least youve helped them realise that apostates arent bile filled lie spewers but reasonable reasoners.
This conversation will stick with them for sure, and when they start seeing the attitudes youve described then itll all come flooding back..

Tbh you cant knock the fact that theyre sending out aid, but it galls me that they could do so much more.
and at the same time they slag off churches of christendom for not getting the preaching/humanitarian balance right. A GOOD DEED IS A GOOD DEED no matter who does it..
